Post-Doctoral Associate

Job Description: The Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation at the University of Florida Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, Davie, FL, in conjunction with USGS and FWS is seeking a post-doctoral associate to participate in large scale ecological research projects on impacts of Everglades restoration on alligator, crocodile and amphibian populations. The post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for leading projects, supervising technicians, analyzing data, and writing proposals, reports, and manuscripts

Qualifications: Applicant should possess a doctoral degree in Ecology or related field, exceptional writing and quantitative skills, particularly sampling design and trend analysis.

Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Position available immediately and open until filled.

Statistician

Job Description: The Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation at the University of Florida Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, Davie, FL in conjunction with USGS and USFWS is currently seeking a full time statistician to analyze data related to ecological studies in the South Florida Everglades Landscape.  Applicant must be proficient in general statistics, population ecology, capture-recapture analyses and trend analyses. Duties will also include analysis for technical reports and refereed publications. 

Qualifications: Applicant should possess a masters or doctoral degree in statistics or quantitative ecology. 

Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Position available immediately and open until filled.  This is a 2 year position with renewal dependent on performance and funding.

Wildlife Technician

Job Description: The Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation at the University of Florida Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center is currently seeking full time field technicians for projects involving crocodilian population ecology. Field work includes spotlight surveys and capture efforts, as well as radio tracking and nesting surveys. Additionally, technicians will perform surveys and capture efforts, diet analysis, as well as radio tracking for Burmese pythons in the Everglades.

Qualifications: Applicants must be able to work independently and in sometimes harsh environments, have at least a B.S. in Ecology or related field, and willing to excel in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, and ability to operate airboats and/or motorboats is a plus. Applicant should possess strong skills in the areas of technical writing, seamanship, all-terrain vehicle operation, GIS/GPS technology, and field experience is a must. The ability to maintain field equipment and vehicles (boats, airboats, trailers, etc.) is also beneficial.
